O'Malley: Abandoned to die in a cardboard box
O’Malley-The-Alley-Cat has an ambition. He wants to create a legacy and save others like him from the fate he narrowly escaped. To do this, he is launching a token ($OMCAT) with a soul and a fat wallet ringfenced for donations to save little beasties. To understand O’Malley’s lofty goal, we must explore his short history. O’Malley was born in mid-October 2023. Alas, the only part of his journey we know for sure begins about three weeks after that date. ___ In mid-November, while cruising along on a motorbike, I had to veer around a cardboard box positioned in the middle of a busy two-way traffic lane. I parked and ran back to move it onto the sidewalk, assuming it had fallen from a passing truck. Horror of horrors—inside, I found five frantically meewing kittens, blinking at the sudden shaft of sunlight piercing their cramped little world. Mouths agape and eye-slits brimming with tears, they were still too young to focus. Emotions overwhelmed me. Who could do this? What kind of person would pack an unwanted litter of kittens into a box and put them in the path of oncoming traffic to dispose of them? O’Malley’s four siblings quickly found loving homes, and “O’Malley” became the 6th member of our cat family. Bottle-reared, he now thinks we’re his parents. He spends his days in the garden chasing butterflies and relentlessly mugging his adult brothers. What a gift O’Malley has turned out to be. Disney can only strive to create a character as beguiling as this little bundle of joy. Time has gone by, but O’Malley still remembers his good fortune. He knows I’m crypto-mad and watches the charts with me. What he doesn’t get, is why so many folks ask, “Wen Lambo?” O’Malley’s only thought is, “Wen care?” I agree. I’d sleep much better at night with a token creating value, ringfenced to donate funds for rescuing helpless animals. The prospect of an overpriced sports car in my garage pales into insignificance by comparison. If you’re like me, this is your tribe. Own it. O’Malley’s just setting it up, then relinquishing control. Take it away! Care for it. From here on out, Mr. O’Malley’s initiative belongs to everyone who cares for the helpless.
